    Maharashtra Government has planned to construct new airports at 16 places including Chandrapur, Beed and Gadchiroli under the 12th Five Year plan to have all districts in the state connected with air link. Senior airport official said. Out of the existing 22 airports upgradation would be done at Kolhapur, Solapur, Amravati and Karad, official said.  Rs 1,350 crore have been sanctioned under the 12th Five Year plan for airport upgradation and construction of new ones. There is a proposal to develop a new airport at Pune near Khed in Rajgurunagar for which the site is yet to be identified.At present work on airport at Sindhudurg is in progress.
