The unauthorized constructions of residential buildings, shops and other structures were sealed in various areas — Pilibhit Bypass road, Bara Bypass, Nainital road and Saidpur Hawkins. Officials at BDA told TOI that the identified structures were being constructed without the civic body approving building layouts and that is why they either sealed or demolished.
According to BDA, the authority on getting information about illegal constructions conducted random inspections and launched a drive from Friday after identification of the illegal construction work. Areas such as Pilibhit Bypass road, Bara Bypass, Nainital road, Mudhiya Ahmed Nagar, among others, were inspected. Construction of five shops and a residential building on a 200 square metre plot by Ajay Kumar and Balak Ram respectively in Mudhiya Ahmed Nagar locality were sealed. Construction of residential buildings on 200 sq m plot each in Saidpur Hawkins Bara Bypass and Pilibhit Bypass road were also sealed.
A residential structure coming up on a 250 sq m plot in Kanjadaspur and another on a 150 sq-m plot at Karanpur Chaudhry Nainital road were sealed.Speaking with TOI, Bareilly Development Authority secretary SP Singh said, “Most of the buildings were found to be under-construction during inspections and hence were sealed on the spot. In Bilwa-Nainital road, some iron grills were being installed in a residential colony without BDA’s approval and these were pulled down on the spot. Since all the constructions were being done without getting an approval of the building layouts from BDA, all have been sealed.”
The identified premises have been sealed under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973 and the people concerned have been warned not to start construction work without a legally approved building plan, said officials.
