SDLG announced the launch of a new grader for the Indian market at the recently concluded Bauma Conexpo India 2016. Eyeing the void generated by the thrust for road and highway development, SDLG announced the L933 while also displaying its best-selling LG958L and G9138 at the event. Speaking to The Masterbuilder on the prospects of the products, their position and the way forward for SDLG, was Bussiness Head, Sanu George. The excerpts of the interview follow.

What products is SDLG featuring at Bauma Conexpo India 2016?

The SDLG stall this year was programmed to feature products that showcase SDLG’s depth and technological supremacy in the Indian market. At the Bauma Conexpo India stall, we featured the best-selling 5-ton LG958L motor grader, the 3-ton G9138 motor grader which is equipped with a host of new features, and the newly launched 3-ton L933 wheel loader.

How will the launch of L933 further strengthen SDLG’s foothold in the Indian Construction Industry?

The L933 is strategically launched to match the growing demands of the Indian consumer, particularly in the 3-ton segment. This machine is ideal for Indian construction sites due to its high maneuverability, performance metrics, and excellent durability. The L933 is versatile and can be used across multiple job sites involving road construction, quarrying, and other general construction activities involving ready mix concrete, cement, etc. With the L933, SDLG is bringing to the Indian consumer, a high performing, well-balanced machine that caters to the current and upcoming landscape of the Indian construction industry.

What are the specifications and the technological achievements of SDLG’s L933?

The L933 comes equipped with the tier III Weichai Deutz turbocharged engine that makes handling terrain relatively easy. The 45-degree dump angle and the 45-degree bucket rollback gives this machine quicker cycle times resulting in a faster return on investment. The L933’s technology is de-signed for extracting the highest efficiency at the job site. The automatic transmission along with the load-sensing hydraulic system maximizes fuel efficiency while efficiently delivering power. Another key feature on the L933 is its turning radius. Given the current Indian job site scenario, it was imperative that the L933 was capable of working in tight spaces while delivering the power needed to efficiently handle the job.

What are the new features on the G9138?

The G9138 is a heavy duty workhorse that has already established itself as a front-runner for both Indian and Asian markets. With the paradigm of construction in India evolving into a more deadline-oriented sector, it became evident that our flagship needed some tweaks to stay ahead of the curve. Which is why we at SDLG have made modifications to the G9138 that makes it highly maneuverable, highly intelligent, easier to operate through a digitized instrument panel, etc., all aimed at increasing efficiency while reducing cycle times. One of the key features is the improved swing frame which allows for greater flexibility at work sites. Powered by the Deutz Tier III engine and the fully automatic ZF transmission system, the G9138 can reach a maximum forward and backward velocity of 39 km/h and 24.5 km/h respectively while delivering a traction force of up to 75.4 kN.



Has there been an increase in demand for the SDLG product line?

Off all the product models that we offer, the 3-ton loader has the largest volume regarding sales. However, over last two years, there has not been much growth in the number of sales for the loader category. On the other hand, our grade category has the been growing year on year for the last two years predominantly due to multiple thrusts from the government on the roads and highways sector. So yes, there has been an increase in demand, and with our new and improved products, we are positive that SDLG can further strengthen its presence in the Indian market and establish a brand synonymous with performance, durability, and ease of integration.
