Alstom has delivered the first of 25 Metropolis train sets to Kochi Metro Rail (KMRL). A handover ceremony was held at Alstom’s Sricity factory to mark the completion of the first train to be built at the site. The new fleet, which was procured by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in August 2014, will begin to enter service in June when the 25-kilometre, elevated rail network opens. As part of Make in India initiative these metro cars are manufactured end-to-end by Alstom in India and are delivered ahead of schedule. Kochi metro is the second metro contract in the country for Alstom after Chennai.
