Once completed, the PNB 118 in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia will be Asia’s 3rd tallest building and the 5th tallest in the world! Set to scale a staggering 666 meters, this 118 storied building is part of the Merdeka 118 precinct mixed-development project; envisioning the development of 19 acres of land by 2024.
The PNB 118, estimated to cost RM5 billion, will consist of shopping malls, office spaces, a sky lobby, observation desks, restaurants, podiums and other such amenities. The design of the tower is said to inspire the thought of diamonds.
The PNB 118 is being built in 3 phases. Construction work on this project began in 2014 and is expected to be completely finished by 2020. The building is pursuing a rigorous environmental program and is seeking triple platinum sustainability certification under the USGBC’s LEED program, the Malaysian Green Building Index (GBI), and the Malaysian GreenRE program.
Pile foundations comprising of 137 reinforced concrete bored piles of 2.2m diameter of 60m length is the foundation for this mega tall tower.
