BHEL Floats Tender for 50 MW of Solar

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has issued a tender for a 50 MW (AC) solar power project for MAHAGENCO. This solar project will be located at Kaudgaon in Maharashtra. The tender is for the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the project. Through this tender, BHEL is also looking to procure the balance of system (BoS) for the projects. The power generated from the solar project will be transmitted to the substation by connecting it to a 33 kV double circuit transmission line being installed by MAHAGENCO.

The project is expected to have several other infrastructural support systems such as module cleaning systems for modules, illumination systems, fire alarm, boundary fencing, approach roads, pathways, and drainage system. The last date for the submission of bids for this tender is October 30, 2019.

BHEL, a government-owned electronics manufacturer, has actively been tendering engineering, procurement, and supply contracts for solar projects, furthering the government’s target of achieving 100 GW solar capacity by 2022. Here are a few recent tenders floated by BHEL in different regions of the country.

Recently, BHEL had issued a tender for the design and supply of a solar floatation platform of 25 MW capacity. The floating solar project is to be installed at the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)’s site in Simhadri, Andhra Pradesh.

In September 2019, Mercom reported that BHEL issued a tender for the design and supply of a complete floatation platform for 100 MW of grid-connected floating solar project at the NTPCs site in Telangana’s Ramagundam.

In August 2019, BHEL also issued tenders for the operation and maintenance work of solar projects aggregating 30 MW in the state of Gujarat. This included a 10 MW project for Gujarat State Fertilizer and Chemicals Limited and another 20 MW solar project for Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited located at Charanka.
