Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT) is an Indian based tire manufacturing company. BKT was founded in 1987. Since its inception, the group has developed into a global player in the specialized Off-Highway tire industry with a 6% market share and a sales volume of 850 million US dollars. The five state-of-the-art production sites, all located in India at; Aurangabad, Bhiwadi, Chopanki, Dombivali and Bhujemploy more than 7,000 people and are responsible for the manufacturing of the group’s products. Under the leadership of Arvindkumar Poddar – Executive Chairman and Managing Director, and Rajiv Poddar – Joint Managing Director, Executive Director the group has acquired an experienced team that have been instrumental in rising profits by 30 percent over the past five years.

BKT’s foray into the global tire industry was strategic and well planned for. Their diverse range of tires services both the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and the replacement market. However, BKT’s core lies in its extensive range of tires for the Off-Highway industry. Over 2300 products service the needs of users and vehicle manufacturers in this industry.

In the Earthmoving and Industrial tire sector, BKT offers solutions for every type of equipment employed in the construction, building and mining space. Solutions for wheel loaders, diggers, wheeled dozers, scrapers, backhoe loaders, trailers, and loaders are available. In the Material Handling and loading sector, BKT offers a host of products for dumpers, forklifts, stackers, cranes, scrappers, backhoes and for equipment used in port container handling.

All Steel Radial

Stepping up focus on R&D activities and propelling innovation in India; BKT setup is latest factory in Bhuj, Gujarat. This state-of-the-art, self-contained, and modern industrial plant is spread over 300 acres and is capable of producing 120,000 tons per year at full capacity. The Bhuj plant has an entire area dedicated for the OTR segment’s all steel radial tires.

BKT are all steel radial pioneers in India in the OTR segment. The group started manufacturing all-steel radial tires in 2008. Coined Earthmax SR, BKT offers an extraordinarily large family of tires that are suitable for the most specific earthmoving applications. These tires are specifically designed for heavy load haulage – featuring outstanding resistance to cuts, abrasions and punctures.

The latest addition to this series has been the Earthmax SR 45 Plus. At 2.70 m diameter, this new giant of a tire has been specifically designed for rigid dumpers and long-haul transport operations. Extraordinary grip and resistance in adverse conditions is one of the many features of this behemoth. The all steel casting of the tire attributes to its extraordinary strength and stability. The special extra-deep tread design minimizes vibrations and noises on the road while also making maintenance easy. The deep treads give the tire a self-cleaning property that aims at effectively ejecting rubble and stones.
