The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) is expected to clear about 12 road projects, entailing investments of over Rs 6,000 crore, over the next few weeks. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways hopes to get 12 highway projects, each with an investment of over Rs 500 crore, approved from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.
Around 2-3 project proposals may be cleared in every meeting of CCEA in the next one month. Projects with less than Rs 500 crore investment will not go to the Cabinet but will be approved by the ministry itself. Some of the projects, including 12 such proposals which will go to the Cabinet, are spill over of the previous fiscal’s projects and some projects converted from annuity to engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode.
