The detailed project report (DPR) for the ambitious Patna ring road project is likely to be ready by the next six months. The proposed alignment of Patna ring road is Bihta-Naubatpur-Dumri-Beldari Chak-Kachhi Dargah-Bidupur bridge-Saran-Astipur-Naya Gaon-Dighwara-Sherpur-Bihta.
The 130km-long Patna ring road project is targeted to be executed with an estimated expenditure of over Rs 4,000 crore. Land for 90km out of total 130km-long road has already been acquired by the state government. The project will be executed by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in phase wise manner.
The proposed ring road is 60-metre-wide and it will have four or six lanes at different places. Construction of Kachhi Darhgah-Bidupur six-lane bridge over the Ganga in the eastern side. Another bridge is required on the western side for completing the ring road. The 22.7km long Kachhi Dargah-Bidupur bridge connecting Patna to Vaishali is scheduled to be completed by December 2021. The ring road will not only improve the connectivity of various places falling in Patna district, but will also help in connecting other districts with the state capital.
