    The federation works for towards the development of the international standard study. It deals with scientific and practical analysis that further enhances the technical, economical, aesthetic and environmental performance of concrete usage.

     

    Fédération Internationale du béton

     

    The International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib – Fédération Internationale du béton) is a non-for-profit organization created in 1998 from the merger of the Euro-International Committee for Concrete (CEB – Comité euro-international du béton) and the International Federation for Prestressing (FIP – Fédération Internationale de la précontrainte). The parent organizations CEB and FIP existed independently since 1952. The objectives of the Fédération Internationale du Béton (FIB) is to develop at an international level the study of scientific and practical matters capable of advancing the technical, economic, aesthetic and environmental performance of concrete construction.

     

     

    The objectives of the FIB is to develop at an international level the study of scientific and practical matters capable of advancing the technical, economic, aesthetic and environmental performance of concrete construction. These include: the stimulation of research, the synthesis of findings from research and practice, the dissemination of the results by way of publications, guidance documents and the organization of international congresses and symposia, the production of recommendations for the design and construction of concrete structures and to inform the members on the latest developments. The objectives are pursued in conjunction with the existing international technical associations and regional standardization organizations. The Institution of Engineers India (IEI) is the first Indian professional body to represent India in the FIB. IEI has been in the “Service of the Engineering Profession and Engineering Community” since 1920 in India.

     

     

    Membership

    At present, the fib has 43 national member groups as statutory members, and about 1000 individual or corporate members in about 65 countries. The objectives of the fib are to develop at an international level the study of scientific and practical matters capable of advancing the technical, economic, aesthetic and environmental performance of concrete construction. These objectives shall be achieved by the stimulation of research, the synthesis of findings from research and practice, and the dissemination of the results by way of publications, guidance documents and the organisation of international congresses and symposia. The production of recommendations for the design and construction of concrete structures, and the information of members on the latest developments also belong to these objectives.
