The rest of the projects will be mapped within two months, MahaRERA authorities have said. The GIS mapping enables homebuyers to check the surroundings and amenities in and around areas where the projects are coming up before they invest in any property.
MahaRERA secretary Vasant Prabhu said, “With the GIS mapping giving a clear picture, the buyers cannot fool the homebuyers as the latter will be assured of a transparent system. We have completed mapping of 9,000 projects registered with us. We will complete mapping of the rest of the projects within two more months.”
The mapping system was consumer friendly as with a click of the mouse, the buyers could get all details of the amenities as listed by the developers while promoting their projects. Prabhu said searching for the projects has also become easy with “bubbles” showing all the amenities on the maps. The chief minister had insisted on the GIS mapping and work was initiated from June. MahaRERA had tied up with MahaOnline to help the prospective buyers look at the details of projects of their interest and the nearby amenities.
Officials said that the “view map” feature opens projects on the map. The buyers can zoom in and check out the schemes in the areas of their choice as well as the amenities, including hospital, school and playground, near them.
S Pradeep, who wanted to invest in a property in Navi Mumbai, said, “Sitting in Pune I was sure of all the facilities even as the developers had mentioned the amenities in the brochures. The GIS mapping is a double check.”
