The Maharashtra government has proposed to grant an additional floor space index (FSI) of 0.5 to attract more industries. At present the slab is fixed at 1. Principal Secretary, urban development department and Industries,Manu Kumar Srivastava said. The decision will help the existing industries to expand without buying more land. The government is planning to introduce walk-to-work environment where residences will be in close proximity to industries so that people do not have to travel long distances.
The state government will redefine the concept of single-window clearance to set up an industry. A single permission will be sufficient for a project to get underway. The government is working with Ernst & Young on process simplification and the new policy will be implemented from the next financial year.
