The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said the detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed five kilometers elevated corridor on Sohna Road is ready and can be sent to the ministry of road, transport and highways for approval in a day or two.

The NHAI said the elevated corridor process is being taken up on priority basis to decongest the traffic between Gurgaon and Alwar via Sohna. The immediate and maximum benefit of the corridor will be for the local traffic of the residential and commercial establishments along the Sohna Road.

“Consultant has submitted us the DPR. We are examining it and we will send to the MoRTH soon for final approval,” said Dinesh Yadav, general manager (GM) Nhai Gurgaon, refusing to reveal details of DPR before approval from the Ministry.

The GM said, “I can just say the elevated corridor will start from Subhash Chowk and it will land somewhere on the Sohna Road after Badshahpur village.”

The residents of Sohna Road said elevated corridor would bring relief. It will be the second longest elevated corridor in the state following 10-km long Panipat elevated corridor.

Neeraj Yadav, president of residents’ welfare association South City-II, Sohna Road, said, “The elevated corridor would separate local traffic from long distance traffic. Sohna Road has developed immense traffic in past five years and it is very difficult to turn right and left. We wish it becomes a reality soon.”

“Due to rapid development between Sohna and Gurgaon, the traffic movement has increased on this road, mainly on the 3 km stretch of Subhash Chowk and T-point near Badshahpur,” said RK Chaudhary of Ardee city.
