HCP Design wins bid to revamp

Ahmedabad-based HCP Design, Planning and Management Pvt. Ltd will carry out the design consultancy to redevelop the Parliament building, the Central Secretariat and the Central Vista by 2022. HCP Design was the contractor for the Sabarmati riverfront project, the Central Vista and state secretariat in Gandhi Nagar, and is building a corridor from the Ganges riverfront to the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, the constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The leafy central part of the capital named after its main British designer Edwin Lutyens—will be given a major makeover. The government sought bids for the renovation of the Parliament building by 2022, construction of a new common central secretariat for all ministries by 2024, and upgradation of the grand Central Vista running from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate by 2021. Bids for the project, estimated to cost Rs 12,000 crore, were to be finalized in a month. HCP Design will be paid Rs229 crore for the consultancy, as against a maximum of Rs448 crore set by the government.
