    Highway connecting the maoist-infested areas in Malkangiri

    The highway connecting the moist-infested areas in the district to Malkangiri

    The 280 km road from Sabbavaram, mandal to Malkangiri via Chodavaram,Narsipatnam, Chintapalli, Gk Veedhi and Sileru in Visakhapatnam district, as well as, Balimela in Odisha would be laid by the central government. The government is planning to lay a highway connecting the maoist- infested areas in the district to Malkangiri.

    According to sources, this road would be laid under BRT scheme of the union government. The actual aim of the project is to provide transport facilities to the tribal people and for easy passage of security forces.

    The NHAI is to a prepare project report for the selected routes. The DPR for two or four lane roads connecting the mentioned places is under preparation and is expected to be ready in next three to four months.The project cost can be estimated only after the completion of the DPR according to NHAI.

    Meanwhile, a 4km stretch from Downuru near Narsipatnam and another 3-4km stretch from Lammasingi have been developed as double roads.
