The Confederation of Indian Industry formally appointed Mr Vasudevan Suresh and Mr Gurmit Singh Arora as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) respectively, at a recently concluded Board members meet at Hyderabad.
The duo are tasked with furthering the cause of IGBC in India which is to promote the adoption of sustainable practices in developing the built environment around us.
Mr V Suresh – former CMD of Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) is part of the panel for the Part 11 of National Building Code (NBC) dealing with sustainable development and green buildings. As the Chairman of IGBC’s Policy & Advocacy Committee he played an active role in accelerating the adoption of green building in India by offering suitable policy incentives.
Mr Gurmit Singh Arora is the National President of Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) and was the Chairman of IGBC Mumbai Chapter. Under his leadership and guidance, over 1,360 green building projects in Maharashtra have adopted IGBC green building rating systems.
