In Fy 17-18 rate of new rail road laying and doubling of existing lines took place at over 6 km/day in India. However, this has to increase significantly to be able to cater to the growing numbers of freight and passenger traffic on rails. Machinery as shown in the video would substantially aid in achieving the country’s ambitious goals and fast-track development.
In this video, a process for Rail road replacement is shown. Old sections are first removed. The ground is prepared. Geogrids are laid. New sections are placed and aligned. Gravel and stones are placed and filled with the aid of Ballast hopper cars. Continuous tamping and straightening machines are then used for levelling.
