On the eve BC India Masterbuilder had one to one chat, Dimitrov Krishnan, vice president and head of Volvo CE India, wherein he shared insights on the products to be showcased, market potential and much more.
Here are the excerpts of the interview.
What products would be showcased at BC India?
At Bauma Conexpo India 2018, we will be introducing two new models to the region: a new large-capacity wheel loader and an asphalt compactor. The two new machines will help Indian contractors meet the growing demand for high-performing, reliable equipment for infrastructure projects such as road building and earthmoving.
Another highlight of the show from Volvo Construction Equipment (VolvoCE) will be the low-noise HB38 hydraulic breaker attachment, which is available for the EC380D excavator. Volvo hydraulic breakers provide consistent power, durability, and breaking force. Contractors in India can now choose from 10 of these state-of-the-art hydraulic breakers. With designs that feature the manufacturer’s trademark quality and reliability, the attachments can handle even the toughest breaking and trenching jobs in mining, quarrying, demolition and construction.
What is the current potential of construction equipment with regards to infrastructure development?
As infrastructure development in India moves into the 21st Century, construction operations are in the spotlight like never before. The fine margins on modern job sites mean that securing a small advantage in something as routine as excavator choice can translate into a big difference in profitability. With Volvo CE, construction companies know they can take advantage of equipment with best-in-class productivity, and when support’s needed world-class backup is available. Volvo CE remains the only major manufacturer present in all equipment sectors: mining, road building or general construction. We have one of the largest and most experienced dealer networks in India, able to provide expert advice and support whenever it’s needed, and there are a range of Customer Service Agreements available.
Volvo CE also has a long history in India, completing 20 years now. We have a large and experienced team at Volvo CE that understands the market, and the needs of our customers.
In terms of specific models, the EC200D as well as the hydraulic breakers have experienced increasing popularity in the market.
Formally launched in India during EXCON 2017, the EC200D is highly efficient, productive and user-friendly. The 20-ton excavator’s high swing torque and lifting abilities help achieve a low cycle time during mass excavations, making it one of the fastest machines in its class with 10-15% better productivity than similar excavators. Our expectations are high for this new machine given the strong growth demand expected in this equipment category. We’re also expecting strong interest from rental companies. The specifications and design of the EC200D make it a perfect option for the rental industry.
As for our range of hydraulic breakers, they are designed to handle the toughest breaking and trenching jobs in mining, quarrying, demolition and construction. Volvo’s hydraulic breaker range are suitable for use with carrier machines from 3 tons to over 75 tons. All are equipped with the standard pyramid moil attachment designed for breaking through asphalt, concrete, and sedimentary rock. Other tools such as moil point, chisel, blunt, compacting plate, and spade attachments are also available.
Volvo CE’s range of 10 hydraulic breakers, all provide the consistent power, durability and breaking force required for tough applications. The breakers range from the HB75, with an operating weight of 7,348 kg and a length of 4,265 mm, to the HB02, with an operating weight of 155 kg and a length of 1,330 mm. Contractors in India can now choose from 10 of these state-of-the-art hydraulic breakers.
How important has the aftermarket support become in present time?
Volvo CE believes that the aftermarket support plays a large role in overall lifetime value of our construction equipment. We have a strong manufacturing base in the country, which ensures customers can procure equipment and parts locally and faster. That’s backed up with strong aftermarket support from our Volvo CE customer service team and our dealer network. We pride ourselves on our national team of experts who understand regional and local needs.
What is your expectation from BC India?
Bauma Conexpo is one of the largest construction trade shows in Asia. It’s always nice to meet with existing and new customers to share our latest technology and offerings during the show. We believe that this will be a good opportunity for us to showcase the lifetime value of Volvo Construction Equipment, not just the equipment itself, but also our experts and aftermarket service support. We will be introducing two new models to the region: a new large-capacity wheel loader and an asphalt compactor. The two new machines will help Indian contractors meet the growing de-mand for high-performing, reliable equipment for infrastructure projects such as road building and earthmoving.
