Mitsubishi to build Japan’s tallest building

tallest buildingMitsubishi Estate Co. announced that it will build a 390-meter tall, 61-story skyscraper near JR Tokyo Station. The new structure will be the tallest building in Japan, surpassing Osaka’s Abeno Harukas, which is currently the nation’s tallest skyscraper complex at 300 meters. Construction of the new building is expected to be completed in the year 2027. The planned construction site in the Tokiwabashi area of Chiyoda Ward is more than 30,000 square meters. The new building planned by Mitsubishi Estate would be about the 20th tallest in the world today. Mitsui Fudosan Co. is planning to open a 245-meter-high building in fiscal 2021 and Tokyo Tatemono Co. is planning to open a 250-meter-high building in 2023 in a redevelopment project on the Yaesu side of Tokyo Station.
