More than 43,200 (43,208) real estate projects and 34,182 real estate agents have registered under RERA across India till date in which Maharashtra tops the list with 21,742 registered projects and 20,841 registered agents.
Till today, 30 states/union territories have notified rules under RERA; 4 North Eastern States (Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim are under process to notify the rules) while West Bengal has enacted its own Act namely ‘West Bengal Housing Industry Regulation Act, 2017’ however, state has been advised by MoHUA to notify the rules under Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act, 2016.
According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), 29 States/UTs set up Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Regular – 20, Interim – 09) (Lakshadweep is under process to establish) and 22 have set up Real Estate Appellate Tribunal (Regular -13, Interim – 09) (Andhra Pradesh, Assam Chhattisgarh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Mizoram and Lakshadweep are under process to establish).
Till now across India, 20,975 cases are been disposed of by the authority. Haryana has two Regulatory Authorities i.e. one for Gurugram and other at Panchkula for rest of Haryana.
