The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), has completed the foundation for 100 piles on the 17-kilometers long priority section from Sahibabad to Duhai. This section is part of the first corridor of the RRTS project proposed between Delhi and Meerut.

The priority segment between Sahibabad and Duhai has been targeted for completion by the year 2023. The execution and construction work of the priority section of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor is in full swing.

The type of pile foundation for 100 piles on the 17 km Sahibabad-Duhai section is a long cylindrical shape, which is built deep inside the ground to support the vertical structure on it. A pile cap has been placed on the top of the foundation, which is a thick square concrete structure resting on piles in order to provide a stable foundation.

The 17 km long priority section between Sahibabad-Duhai will have approximately 400 pillars excluding the station boxes. The construction work is going on the full swing which will be visible in the form of piers and viaduct soon.

The first semi-high speed transit corridor of the regional rapid transit system (RRTS) is the 82-kilometre long Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor. NCRTC claims that after the opening of the entire corridor for the public, it will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Meerut to just 55 minutes. The proposed RRTS project aims to completely transform the regional transportation system of the National Capital Region (NCR).

The entire Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor has been targeted for completion by the year 2025. The 10-coach rapid trains will run with an operational speed of 160 kilometres per hour and will be three times more efficient than the Delhi Metro trains.
