The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has taken over the project to widen the Chennai-Tirupati High (CTH) Road (Chennai-Tirutani-Renigunta Road). As part of the project, the NHAI will also construct a bypass for Tiruvallur.
The key project was taken up the NHAI following the suspension of the concessionaire due to a lack-of-action on its part. NHAI has taken over toll collection and has commenced activities to repair potholes “on a war footing”, according to a statement by the NHAI.
Meanwhile, work to construct bridges at Narayanapuram and Pattaraiperumbudur has started on the road that runs through Tiruvallur, Tirutani, Nagari and Puthur.
