Railways  to renovate all A1 and A-category stations and make them of international standards. Patna Junction has been excluded whereas Ranchi is among the 23 stations to be revamped in the first phase.

All modern facilities on a par with world-class stations of European countries would be provided at these 23 stations in the first phase.

Besides, a separate Indian Railway Station Development Corporation Ltd (IRSDC) has been set up. This will give impetus to the station development plan at other major stations.

At least 12 stations have been shortlisted for their development in the first phase under this initiative. However, Patna Junction does not figure even in this list of 12 stations.

The railways had earlier sent letters to the states, seeking their cooperation to develop stations under the IRSDC initiative. The IRCON and Rail Land Development Authority have been assigned the task to complete the first phase of station development plan.
