Shanghai’s InterContinental Wonderland is nearing completion. Located in an abandoned former quarry, the InterContinental Wonderland is an 18 sortied resort hugs the rock face in a harmonious yin and yang design.
The structure comprises of 18 floors above the surface of the water and 2 floors under. To build this amazing structure, the engineering team came up with 41 registered patents along the way to resolve various engineering difficulties.
The InterContinental Wonderland has been nicknamed the “earthscraper,” as it’s the opposite of a skyscraper. The hotel will consist of 336 rooms. The submerged floors will be built inside a 33-foot-deep aquarium – that will allow guests to watch aquatic life in their natural habitats.
