“The proposed city would be world-class in all respects. People living in the neighbouring areas, whose land would be acquired, are mainly into animal husbandry and farming business. The new project will rope in all these people to provide them job opportunities,” said YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh.
Singh said Shapoorji Pallonji had expressed interest in developing the city. “The company representatives said that they have experience in building diverse civil and structural engineering infrastructure projects like stadium, auditorium, airports, hotels, hospitals, townships, etc. We will look into their proposal,” he said.
On the sanctioned Jewar airport, Yamuna Authority officials said the Union environment and forests ministry had approved the techno-economic feasibility report. The ministry has put the report online for 45 days, seeking objections to the project, following which the environmental clearance will be granted.
The expert group will then make recommendations to the UP government for a final nod, following which the local administration will start taking consent for acquisition from the land owners.
The land owners and farmers will be informed in details about the process and compensation for the same. Yamuna Authority has been appointed as the nodal agency for the airport project which has earmarked 5,000 hectares of land for the same.
