In Kochi, the authorities have designed Rs 2,076 crore worth projects under Smart City and converging other centrally-sponsored projects like Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Prime Minister’s Awaz Yojana (PMAY).
It was during a review meeting of Smart City projects across the state that the chief minister gave the deadline for Kochi.
As per the instructions by the Union government, all these projects should be completed by June 2020. But, Kochi had been lagging in implementing the projects. The CSML switched over to active mode only four or five months ago. “We have already floated tenders for Rs 660 crore worth projects. The work on these projects should be started within three months. Projects to the tune of Rs 1,250 crore should be started by the end of this fiscal,” CSML CEO A P M Mohammed Hanish said.
