    A newly renovated platform at Gorakhpur Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh has become the world’s longest railway platform, measuring1, 366m by overtaking the 1,072 m Kharagpur railway platform in  West Bengal. The signalling system at the station has also been upgraded to cater to the increasing passenger demand.
    In addition to cutting down passenger congestion, the renovated platform will offer better and safer services to passengers. Gorakhpur Railway Station currently handles an average of 86 pairs of trains daily.
