    Thiruvananthapuram Central to be modernized at a cost of 6.6 Crore

    The foundation stone was laid by Minister of State for Human Resources Development Dr Sashi Tharoor at the Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station to develop it into a world class railway station at a cost of Rs 6.6 crore.  The station will soon have facilities that include four escalators, three lifts, one foot over bridge and a sky walk connecting the station to Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus stand with power house road entry to Thampanoor station.

    The facility will provide an easy link for passengers to take buses to East fort bus stand or Pazhavangadi from Thampanoor. Rakesh Misra, General Manager Southern Railway, Rajesh Agrawal, DivisionalRailway Manager, T Kuppan, Additional Divisional Railway Manager and senior officers from Railway were present.
