Yamuna Expressway India’s Largest Concrete Road Project


Schwing Stetter India batching plants are the favorite for road projects. Ten batching plants of H6N capacity producing 240 m3/hr mixed 34 lakh m3 of concrete with a grade of M30, M15for the Yamuna expressway, a 166 km road project is split into three packages at Dankaur, Jewar, Bajna, Aruha Banger, Baldev and Nando.



Subcontractors of these projects were C & C constructions and Oriental structure engineers and the main contractors were Jaiprakash Associates.

The Yamuna Expressway (formerly known as Taj expressway) project is conceived with the idea to not only reduce the travel time between New Delhi and Agra but also to open up avenue for Industrial and urban development of the region and provide the base for convergence to tourism and other allied industries. Yamuna Expressway is a 6-lane (extendable to 8 lanes) access-controlled expressway, connecting Delhi-Noida-Greater Noida with Agra.



Schwing Stetter India supplied batching plants as well as handled the aftersales support of spares, order and maintenance contract.



Raw Materials used:

Approximately 33 lakh cu.m. of Paving Quality Concrete (PQC) and Dry Lean Concrete (DLC) was used in this prestigious road project. PQC and DLC was transported in an open truck of 12 m3 capacity to the paving location of the expressway. The curb concrete was transported in concrete mixers of 6 m3 capacity.



During the OMC operation of the batching plant H6N, there was a record concrete production of 5050 cu.m in 18 hrs of continuous operation and 1 Km of road was paved in one go using this 5050 cu.m concrete. This was a record for paving in road project.
